Happy Birthday to A National Treasure : Gil Scott-Heron

No matter what album, no matter what poem, no matter what song Gil Scott-Heron rings perfect. Fuck, check out Winter in America, from start to finish it is literally perfection. I still remember hearing The Revolution Will Not Be Televised in gradeschool and thinking that it was so much cooler than the hip-hop that all my friends listened to at the time in the early 80’s. Anyway if you don’t know, now you know. Go find some of his work and listen to some of your new favorite music. And happy birthday Mr.Scott-Heron, thanks.

H20 Gate Blues (this is genius, as relevant then as it is now)

The Bottle

& one of my favorites , Angola Louisiana
